Rare Yellow Cardinal Spotted in Pennsylvania

A one in a million yellow cardinal is being spotted in Pennsylvania. Danielle Cover says she saw the extremely rare bird in her back yard and was able to take three pictures before it flew away. Reports of yellow cardinals are uncommon. Auburn University bird expert Geoffrey Hill says only two or three are reported in the U.S. every year. It's a genetic condition that causes these cardinals to come out bright yellow instead of red. It only affects roughly one in a million birds.
