Entergy released a preliminary estimated timeline for when it hopes to have power restored to areas across Southeast Louisiana, per WDSU.
After Hurricane Ida knocked out power for over a million people, including all of New Orleans, crews have been hard at work assessing damage and working to bring power to those left in the dark. Entergy has so far restored power to more than 172,000 customers impacted by Ida
Here is Entergy's estimated timeline for restoring power around New Orleans and Baton Rouge:
- Port Allen – Point Coupee, West Baton Rouge and Iberville Parishes: September 3
- Zachary – East and West Feliciana Parishes: September 3
- Central Business District: September 4
- B.R. Metro – East Baton Rouge Parish: September 6
- Gonzales – Gonzales and parts of Ascension Parish: September 7
- Denham Springs: September 7
- Chalmatte – St. Bernard and upper parts of Plaquemines Parish: September 7
- Metairie-Kenner: September 8
- Westbank – Westbank of Jefferson Parish
- Algiers: September 8
- New Orleans East: September 8
- Orleans Parish: September 8
According to Entergy, these estimates are for customers in affected areas and many are already having power restored. For some individual cases, circumstances could cause restoration to take longer.
"We understand the extreme difficulty of living without power, and hope that these estimated times of restoration can help customers better plan and prepare for the coming days, and for those in the hardest-hit area, weeks ahead," said Rod West, Entergy group president, utility operations. "We recognize the hardship this historic storm has wrought on our communities and across our region. We ask that our customers remain safe, and we appreciate their extended patience. Please know that thousands of employees and contractors are currently in the field working day and night to restore power. We will continue working until every community is restored."
